FSSC 24000
Social Responsibility
Building Trust and Impact for Social Sustainability
FSSC 24000 is a global Social Management System Certification Scheme based on the ISO Harmonized Structure. It enables organizations to systematically manage and improve their performance on social responsibility and ethical business practices toward sustainable development.
Developed through broad consultation with international stakeholders, FSSC 24000 provides a framework for organizations in the consumer goods industry and related supply chains to meet social sustainability and performance requirements. The Scheme is SSCI-recognized, endorsed as an IAF MLA sub-scope, and referenced in the ITC Standards Map, ensuring its international credibility and acceptance. This certification can be applied to the manufacturing and processing sectors of both food and non-food products, as well as to service-providing organizations.
Purpose and Value of the Certification
FSSC 24000 helps organizations manage critical social issues such as human rights, labor practices, health & safety, and business ethics.
Beyond compliance, it promotes continuous improvement and corporate social responsibility through a structured management system approach. Based on the internationally recognized PAS 24000: Specification for Social Management Systems, this certification enables organizations to enhance working conditions, strengthen social performance, and apply due diligence within their supply chains.
ISO-Aligned Management System Approach
FSSC 24000 adopts the ISO management system approach, incorporating the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle and risk-based thinking to identify, control, and continuously improve social performance.
Organizations already certified to ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environment), or FSSC 22000 (Food Safety) can easily integrate FSSC 24000 into their Integrated Management System (IMS) to extend their commitment to social responsibility.
FSSC 24000 Credibility and Reliable
Global Recognition and Credibility
In 2024, FSSC 24000 achieved official recognition from the Sustainable Supply Chain Initiative (SSCI) to meet its benchmarking requirements for processing and manufacturing.
This recognition demonstrates that FSSC 24000 is a globally credible and trustworthy standard for social sustainability management — similar to how FSSC 22000 is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) in the food safety domain.
Toward a Sustainable Future
FSSC 24000 goes beyond compliance — it helps organizations embed human-centered values and ethical culture into their operations, building trust and contributing to a more sustainable and responsible global society.
Reliable and Transparent Certification Process
Only licensed Certification Bodies approved by Foundation FSSC are authorized to deliver FSSC 24000 certification. All Certification Bodies must be accredited to ISO/IEC 17021-1 (Requirements for Management System Certification) to ensure consistent, high-quality audits and trustworthy certification outcomes.
Through the FSSC Integrity Program, continuous monitoring of licensed bodies is conducted to uphold impartiality, transparency, and reliability across the certification process.
Transparent Governance and Global Collaboration
The FSSC 24000 Scheme is managed by Foundation FSSC and governed by an independent Board of Stakeholders composed of representatives from various sectors across the consumer goods industry and supply chains.
A dedicated Advisory Committee provides technical recommendations and oversees scheme updates, ensuring transparency and industry-wide engagement.
Shaping a Sustainable Future with FSSC 24000
FSSC 24000 goes beyond certification—it helps organizations embed human-centered values and ethical business culture into their operations. By adopting this standard, organizations can strengthen social responsibility, build stakeholder trust, and contribute meaningfully to a more sustainable and equitable world.
